Safer Roads. A Transparent Plan.

Listen to residents. Improve road safety. Make every public dollar count.

Speeding is one of the concerns I hear most often from Ward 3 residents, and I see it myself. Some of our roads heading down to the lake feel like a mini Indy.

While knocking on doors near Audley Road, I witnessed speeding firsthand and heard the same concerns from residents. With a new playground just south of Bayly Street, near Audley Road, we need to take a serious look at measures to slow drivers down and protect families.

Lake Driveway and other roads throughout Ward 3 are also raising concerns. I'm hearing from seniors who feel they don't have enough time to safely cross at certain traffic lights.

These are real concerns that deserve real action.

Targeted Enforcement and Safer Crossings

As your Local Councillor, I will work with our Regional Councillor and advocate for increased Durham Regional Police Service (DRPS) enforcement in areas where speeding continues to be a problem.

I will also push for reviews of pedestrian crossings where seniors and residents have raised safety concerns.

Transparency in Road Safety Spending

Ajax has received funding through Ontario's Road Safety Initiatives Fund (RSIF), with 12 priority locations identified from 28 eligible corridors for traffic-calming improvements planned for spring and summer 2027.

This is an opportunity to improve our roads, but residents deserve to know how the money will be spent.

Before these improvements move forward, residents should know:

  • Where are the 12 priority locations?

  • What improvements are planned, and why?

  • How much will they cost?

  • Where are Community Safety Zones being considered?

  • How will we measure the results?

Put the information out there. Explain the decisions. Measure the results.

Grant funding is still taxpayer money. Every public dollar should have a purpose, and residents should be able to see the value it delivers.

Explore What Works

We should also be open to innovative road-safety solutions being tested in other municipalities, including Brampton's exploration of in-ground LED technology.

If an idea is proven effective, financially responsible and eligible for available funding, let's consider whether it could work in Ajax.

My Commitment

I will continue listening to residents, working with our Regional Councillor, Town staff and DRPS, and advocating for practical road-safety improvements throughout Ward 3.

Listen to residents.
Slow drivers down.
Make our roads safer.
Respect every public dollar.

Your voice. Our community.
